EU ETS and MRV Systems (Monitoring-Reporting-Verification)
Event though EU ETS does not require the use of a software tool to comply with the legislation, it imposes a number of constraints that make the use of an MRV (Monitoring-Reporting-Verification) solution almost an obligation:
- Data source for aerodromes coordinates must come from official AIPs and be updated on each AIRAC cycle
- GCD computation must follow WGS84
- Data must be verified against multiple sources (Mass & Balance, Fuel invoice, Eurocontrol...)
- Precise reporting formats are imposed with various aggregations
- In the future, reports will need to comply with a new electronic data exchange format (The EU ETS XML reporting language)
SkyBreathe as an MRV System
OpenAirlines’ goal in the design of SkyBreathe was to conceive an EU ETS MRV solution that covers all these requirements, yet remain as simple and cost effective as possible to reduce the burden that EU ETS imposes on airlines.
We believe we have attained such an objective with clear and easy-to-use interfaces and a system that is very simple to deploy and manage since we take care of everything.
And we guarantee that the system is always up-to-date with the latest legal obligations, formats, etc.
Beyond EU ETS MRV
Beyond EU ETS, we used our experience in optimizing flight operations to offer you great functions that leverage the data collection imposed by EU ETS.
This is how we designed advanced features such as smart error detection, statistical analysis, allowances budgeting and tracking, or fuel saving optimization.
The benefits of using SkyBreathe as your EU ETS MRV solution are:
- EU ETS implementation and operating costs are cut down
- No cost for gathering or processing data
- No cost for keeping the system up-to-date with regulations
- No cost for generating reports
- EU ETS verification costs are reduced
- Errors are detected and corrected early on
- Fines and penalties are avoided
- The Verifier is assisted and will spend less time
- Fuel consumption is reduced
- Identify fuel conservation best practices
- Apply the initiatives that best match your operations
- CO2 allowances are saved
- Predict your budget
- Buy your stock at the best time
